Accompanied by his team from Bodegas Fundador, including Rafael Rendon founder and director of the Bodega and technical director Manuel Valcarcel, Andrew Tan visiting from the Philippines spent several hours at the council discussing his vision for Brandy de Jerez and the bodega.
Brandy de Jerez President, Evaristo Babé expressed his admiration for the empire Andrew Tan has built in the Philippines with Brandy de Jerez and congratulated him on the successful acquisition of Bodegas Fundador.
Beltrán Domecq, President Sherry Wine Council joined in the round of congratulations with Mr Tan, sharing his own personal story of how it was his great-grandfather that was responsible for marketing the first Brandy de Jerez in 1874.
Andrew Tan commented
A new era begins not just for Fundador, but the whole brandy and sherry industry in Spain. This is an era that will bring in more innovation and new ideas.
If the world’s best whiskies are aged in sherry casks in Jerez, then many of the Brandy products now aged in sherry casks in Jerez should become the best brandy in the world. In Bodegas Fundador, we have a sizable inventory of brandy that has been aged for more than 50 years. Once they are bottled, they should become one of the most valuable brandies in the world.
