Bodegas Francisco Yuste consists of various bodegas in different parts of the city of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Each one of these nurtures soleras of over 100 years of age: the emblematic Manzanillas of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the wines of the Conde de Aldama and the finest of Brandies, Punto Azul, aged in butts of oak from Costa Rica.
Punto Azul Brandy is living history; every glass reveals its sheer age. It comes in two versions; Prestige with over 50 years of solera ageing and Heritâge with over 80. The name Punto Azul, or “blue spot”, is derived from the fact that the very finest staves of American oak from Costa Rica were marked with a blue spot to signify their ideal suitability for ageing Brandy.
Punto Azul is dark, old mahogany in colour with copper highlights with intense aromas of chocolate and liquorice on the nose. The palate is intensely complex yet velvety with a gentle sweetness and the flavour lingers almost interminably.
Punto Azul is a very serious old Brandy which is best enjoyed slowly in a traditional balloon glass, perhaps with some ice.
